This has always been one of my favorite renders.
I took the pose from a french comic book (a bande dessinée, to be more accurate) called Le Dernier Loup d'Oz, by the legendary artist Lidwine :
The illustration was used twice : once, in black & white, during the story, and a second time, in colors, on the back cover of the BD :
This BD has always been a curiosity. It was meant as a prologue for something much, much bigger... that sadly never came to fruition. It was released in 1994 and up to this day (I'm writing this in 2019), fans are still dreaming of a sequel.
Visually, it was a masterpiece. The world it presented was gorgeous. The story bizarre, difficult to grasp, confusing... yet... fascinating.
Here's an anecdote of mine : I discovered this BD in a public library around 1997-1998 [I could even check the right date...] and loved it so much... that... yeah, well, ok, I stole it.
I STOLE IT !
Not my proudest moment, I know... but eh, it was another time, way before digitization, and some things felt so precious, it was as if they could simply vanish forever. So I had to conserve it myself, as I feared I could never see it again.
Eventually, 15 years later (2011-12-30), probably ouf of guilt, I tried to find another copy, a legal one, which I did find, and so I bought it.
